Introduction to 2 Day IR(ME)R17 Course

Our course for Operators, Practitioners and others working with ionising radiations for the exposure of patients ensures that participants receive the necessary core of knowledge instruction in radiation protection in medical practice, supporting their role to act in any of these capacities.

The course content has been developed to meet requirements outlined in Regulation 17 and Schedule 3 of IR(ME)R 2017, as well as for training of operators and practitioners.

This is a two day course that will equip qualified radiographers with the underpinning theoretical knowledge and understanding necessary to operate under the remit of IR(ME)R.

 

Course Topics Include:

  • Overview of the regulations
  • Employer’s duties and Employer’s procedures
  • Accidental and unintended exposures (SAUE and CSAUE)
  • Justification and Optimisation
  • The latest guidance on establishing pregnancy
  • The role of the Medical Physics Expert (MPE)

  • Feedback from the CQC annual report
